In Which The Querier Queries Unlikely Personages and Considers Going into Hiding

Yesterday I queried a hometown agent who is probably about 23 and looks like Mila Kunis.  During the many times I've spotted pretty young ladies on Muni, I never even considered that one day I would be writing one of them a letter, calling her Ms. and asking for help.  On one hand, it makes my bones feel creaky.  On the other hand, since my protagonist is also 23, maybe this agent will find her more appealing than her elder colleagues.

I also queried an agent who I saw at Bouchercon.  This took some nerve on my part.  This particular agent was on a Bouchercon panel.  I asked a question in the Q and A session.  It was not a good question.  She  mockingly pointed this out to the delight of the audience, which appeared to be made up entirely of retired female English teachers.*  It was literally a socially awkward individual's worst nightmare.  But I refuse to be rejected on my fumbling question!  You will reject me on the shoddiness of my work goddammit!

In other news, I am considering a suitable Halloween costume.  How do you think a literary agent ninja would be outfitted?

*The Querier's mother is a retired English teacher.  'Nuff said.
